Room 3

Store and corn cabinet

This room is said to have originally been the store and corn cabinet (corn implies grains of all kinds).

The door leading to the adjacent pharmacy was made at a later date, as well as the big window showing onto the street. It was built in 1878 after the demolition of the Moselle gate nearby. The opposite window was originally much smaller and let almost no light into the dark room.

The heraldic window of 1698 above the door leading to the pharmacy was only installed when the house was turned into a museum. It is supposed to come from the castle of Niederweis near Bitburg which was pulled down in the 18th century. A few years ago it was restored for Euro 8.500 funds, raised by the Mittelmosel- Museum sponsorship.
